Local enterprises across Northern Mindanao generated more than P45.7 million in sales and potential deals during the Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair 2026 in Cagayan de Oro City, held August 25 to 31. The annual trade promotion event was led by the Department of Trade and Industry Region 10.

A total of 111 micro, small, and medium enterprises took part, using the fair to reach consumer and institutional buyers with food and non-food products from the region. Organizers said the gathering gave MSMEs a stronger foothold in markets beyond their usual hometown base.

The weeklong fair recorded P39,963,745 in cash and booked sales. Another P5,762,996 remained under negotiation, bringing the combined figure to more than P45.7 million for participating businesses.

Seventy-eight MSMEs operated booths on the trade floor. Their displays highlighted regional goods such as coffee, cacao, processed fruits and nuts, snacks, condiments, and seasonings. Non-food exhibitors also featured wearables, home-style décor, and sustainable products made from bamboo and coconut.

Before the main fair opened, 33 MSMEs joined a business-to-business matching activity on August 19. The session let entrepreneurs pitch products to institutional buyers and explore larger supply arrangements that go beyond walk-in retail sales.

Participants also received practical training meant to strengthen day-to-day operations. Sessions led by GCash, Maya, and Airspeed covered digital financial tools, payment terminal solutions, and export logistics, helping firms streamline payments and prepare goods for wider distribution.

For first-time exhibitor Priscilla Maghanoy of Pem’s Food Product, the fair was a chance to expand her ready-to-drink calamansi juice line. She had previously joined DTI programs on marketing and operations, but said breaking into a broader market had remained her biggest hurdle.

Maghanoy credited Kahimunan with helping her reach a wider audience in Cagayan de Oro. “Thank you kaayo sa DTI nga nag-organize aning Kahimunan. Privilege namo nga na-introduce, nailhan amo product diri sa Cagayan,” she said. In English: Thank you very much to DTI for organizing Kahimunan. We are privileged to have our products introduced and recognized here in Cagayan.

Through Kahimunan, DTI Region 10 continues to open market avenues for Northern Mindanao MSMEs. The mix of consumer booths, B2B matching, and skills training is designed to help local products reach more buyers while giving entrepreneurs tools for the next stage of growth.

For Cagayan de Oro shoppers and institutional purchasers, the fair also served as a one-stop window into the region’s coffee, cacao, processed foods, and sustainable crafts. The P45.7-million result underscores how a well-staged regional trade fair can turn a week of exposure into concrete sales and pipeline deals for small businesses.
