Telecommunications giant PLDT is exploring the rollout of solar power solutions through subscription-based plans bundled with its existing internet services, providing customers with a more affordable path to renewable energy adoption.
In a statement released Thursday, PLDT announced plans to partner with a solar energy provider to offer an integrated package that combines high-speed internet connectivity with solar energy systems. The initiative aims to help households stay connected while reducing electricity expenses.
According to the company, initial market testing has yielded encouraging results, with strong consumer interest in a combined digital and energy solution that delivers both convenience and long-term cost savings.
PLDT noted that allowing subscribers to access solar infrastructure through affordable monthly payments spread over several years would significantly reduce upfront investment costs, making solar energy more accessible to Filipino households.
PLDT Chief Operating Officer Butch Jimenez said solar technology can help homeowners future-proof their properties while enhancing energy resilience.
“If people can have solar panels installed together with internet in one go, it should be very compelling for our customers,” Jimenez said.
Meanwhile, PLDT Home Senior Vice President John Palanca said the expansion into solar power solutions aligns with the company’s vision of providing comprehensive home services beyond connectivity.
“This also helps PLDT own the whole home, and not just the internet portion. We’re excited to announce the full details soon,” Palanca said.
The planned offering underscores PLDT’s continued efforts to diversify its services and provide innovative solutions that address both the digital and energy needs of modern households.
